Townships in Oxford County are modifying the fire ban currently in effect. Due to the recent rainfall, the five townships are prohibiting large open burns but fire pit use will be permitted. According to the township fire departments, these fires must be small, contained to the fire pit and supervised. A form of extinguishment must be readily available as well. Controlled burns are prohibited at this time. Once weather conditions are deemed safe by the Township fire departments, the complete ban will be lifted. Fore further details, residents can contact their local municipal fire department.
