More troubles with Takata airbags have prompted more recalls from Toyota and Nissan
Toyota and Nissan are issuing a recall.
Another problem with Takata airbag from Japan prompted the recall which includes nearly 5 million Toyota vehicles - 637 thousand in the US and reportedly 18 thousand in Canada.
The Toyota models being recalled include:
2004 and 2005 RAV4 compact sport utility vehicles
2003 - 2004 Tundra pickup
2003 - 2004 Sequoia vehicles
Both companies say the recall is only for investigative purposes and no accidents or injuries have been reported. This recall surrounds front passenger and front driver side air bag inflators that may deploy abnormally or rupture - a different issue from the earlier problem of airbags deploying with too much force.
Honda - Japan's number three automaker - says it is also preparing to announce more car recalls related to the air bag.
