Delhi's victory eliminates the Vets from the playoffs; Norwich down Burford.
A couple of weather related postponed games were rescheduled for Wednesday night as the Midwestern Junior C Hockey League winds down their regular season.
The Merchants and Bulldogs, who were originally scheduled to meet up Saturday, faced off in Norwich last night. The Merchants dominated the game, clobbering Burford 6-1. No rest for Norwich though; they're back in action Thursday night, travelling to Ayr for a showdown against the second place Centennials. The two teams meet up again Friday in Norwich, for the Merchants final game of the regular season.
In other Midwestern action Wednesday night, the Braves hit the road travelling to Delhi to make up their postponed Saturday game. The Travellers blanked Tavistock 2-0, keeping their playoff dreams alive while officially eliminating the Woodstock Navy Vets from playoff contention.
Delhi's record of 6-30-2 leaves them four points ahead of Woodstock at 4-33-2.
The Travellers and Navy Vets square off Friday night in Delhi for the Woodstock's final game of the season.
In a release from the Vet's Thursday night, they said despite some frustrations this season, "the coaching change seemed to bring better play down the stretch and a reason for optimism going into next season." The team went on to thank their fans and sponsors for their support in the 2013-2014 season.
