The 20th Anniversary of the Woodstock Walk for Memories couldn't be held back by snow.
It's going to take time for all the pledges to come in from this year's Walk for Memories in Woodstock.
Saturday's blowing snow storm kept quite a few away from the event.
But, for others, like 85-year-old Terry Geerlinks, there was no way she was missing the event.
As Oxford County Alzheimer Society Director Shelley Green tells Heart FM, it was a big milestone for the event, and Geerlinks. "She's been to our walk every year for 20-years. She's 85 and has raised well over $35,000 for us. She and her family have come out for us every single year, and we were able to honour her as Queen of our walk."
Although with the snowstorm, Green says it did lead to lighter than normal attendance. "Certainly the weather did impact people coming. We didn't want people taking the risk of coming, but we knew that people in Woodstock, as long as they could get out of their driveway would come and they did. So it was great to see so many people out."
So far, Woodstock's walk raised $58,000, but Green expects are donations continue to come in, they will surpass the goal of $112,000 from all three walks in Oxford County.
