As kids fill the streets for Halloween motorists are being asked to keep an eye out.
OXFORD COUNTY - If you have to drive anywhere on Halloween night, make sure you leave yourself plenty of time.
Oxford OPP Constable Lisa Naranscik reminds drivers about how kids can get a little over excited at the idea of all that free candy. "They probably want to slow down especially if they're in the residential areas to watch out for kids. Kids are really excited and you don't want anybody to run out in front of you and not be able to stop. So make sure that you're travelling at a speed that will allow you to stop if necessary."
Naranscik also reminds everyone about the importance of making sure your attention is solely on the road. "Keep the distractions away and keep your eyes on the roadways for those kids that might be overzealous out there. And of course don't drink and drive - use a designated driver if you're going to be out celebrating."
If you know you will be travelling on Halloween night, Naranscik says there is a few things you can do to make things a little easier on yourself. "When you're reversing make sure you're travelling at that speed, and take an extra look when you're backing out. And if possible - if you know you're going to be going out back in so you know you'll be driving forward and you'll be able to see anything that's going on."
