The population in the Friendly City has eclipsed 40,000 according to the new census data.
WOODSTOCK - The Friendly City is going to need to update their population signs after the latest census data statistics Canada.
Woodstock has 40,902 residents according to the 2016 census.
This is up 8.3 percent from the previous census in 2011 when we had just under 38,000 people. Woodstock had the highest jump of any of the communities in Oxford County.
The next highest was Ingersoll who went from having 12,146 residents in 2011 to 12,757.
Blandford-Blenheim had the smallest change over the past 5 years. They only added 40 people according the census data.
Elsewhere around the County Tillsonburg went from 15,301 to 15,872 and Norwich went from a population of 10,721 to 11,001.
Rounding out the County, South West Oxford's population increased from 7,544 to 7,664, Zorra went from 8,058 to 8,138 and finally East Zorra Tavistock's population increased 4.3 percent from 6,836 to 7,129. You can find more information about the new census data online here.
