Meetings will take place on a monthly basis and the first one is scheduled for June 30th.
WOODSTOCK - A new ostomy support group will begin meeting on the last Tuesday of every month.
The peer-to-peer ostomy support group will host its first meeting from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on June 30th in the boardroom at Woodingford Lodge (300 Juliana Drive, Woodstock).
It is estimated that 13,000 people in Canada undergo ostomy surgery every year, and over 165,000 are currently living with an ostomy.
The group is planning on offering presentations from guest speakers and the sessions will be administered by Registered Nurse Bethanie Fulton, who is a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC), Wound, Ostomy and Continence Certified (WOCc) and has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
Living with an ostomy can be challenging, and Ostomy Support Oxford is here to help. The group will offer speakers and presentations on topics such as daily life with an ostomy, health and wellness, sexuality, travel, tax credits, and skin care. Meetings are informal and free to attend.
