Ministry of Labour investigating after County worker suffers serious injury in fall.
A 35-year-old woman has been hospitalized after falling from the Oxford County watertower near the Highway 59 roundabout.
The woman fell on Thursday while climbing the ladder inside the tower during an inspection.
A source close to the family tells Heart FM the woman underwent surgery in London on Thursday, and remains at Victoria Hospital with a spinal injury. The woman was reportedly wearing a helmet and harness at the time.
However, because it's a personnel issue, the County cannot confirm some of those facts.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
In a statement, County CAO Peter Crockett says, “We are sad to report that a Public Works water operator was injured after falling while climbing inside Woodstock’s northwest water tower as part of a routine, weather-related inspection. The employee is being treated for injuries sustained in that fall, and we are doing everything we can to support that individual, including protecting privacy at this time. We are also supporting the employee’s co-workers who are struggling to deal with this incident."
“We are cooperating with the Ministry of Labour to investigate the incident, but don’t have further details to release at this point. We will provide updates as we can.”
