Woodstock Police deal with a number of reports and continue traffic enforcement campaign
WOODSTOCK -- Woodstock Police were kept hopping this Easter long weekend.
In a release Tuesday morning, police say they responded to a number of noise complaints, family disputes and motor vehicle collisions between Thursday and Monday.
April 17th around 7:00 pm, police and Oxford EMS responded to the scene of a crash between a motorcycle and car at Dundas Street and Oxford Street. The car signaled left to turn into a private parking lot, crossing into the path of the motorcycle. The bike was knocked over causing minor injuries to the motorcyclist. The driver of the car was charged with making an improper turn.
Shortly after this, around 7:45 pm, police were called to Karn Ave and Pavey Street where a group of youth were in an altercation. A 17 year-old male was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after wielding a steel pipe he had in his vehicle.
Friday morning around 4:30 am, police located a black Toyota in the parking lot of the Home Hardware Plaza on Dundas East which was stolen from a Woodstock residence. 27 year-old Steven Mullen was found sleeping in the car, arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
Police also say they are continuing their traffic enforcement campaign that kicked off at the beginning of April. In that time, 7 notices for not wearing a seatbelt, 15 offences related to cell phone use, 19 school zone related offences and more than a 100 speeding tickets have been handed out.
