Zorra Township is looking at their options when it comes to curbing speeding and how much it could cost them.
ZORRA - Residents in the Township of Zorra are getting fed up with people speeding through their communities.
Most of the complaints have come from the villages, hamlets and towns in the area where they say people aren't slowing down. Mayor of Zorra Margaret Lupton tells Heart FM Oxford County council has approved a request to look deeper into the issue.
"Could we possibly take over the speeding, looking after stopping the speeders in these areas with people who are trained just to do that. They certainly wouldn't be paid as much as the OPP, but I think they could earn their salary in the speeding fines that would be collected."
Lupton says another thing they are looking at is the possibility of bringing in photo radar to the township. She notes they have tried a number of things in the past to curb the problem with little results.
"We've done these extra stop signs, we've done three way stops, we've done everything that we think we can do with very little results. We have asked for more policing from the OPP and I understand it is not always a top priority for our police."
