A new Optimist Club has been chartered and will help shape the future for youth in Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - A new club has been formed to represent Oxford County.
The Optimist Club of Oxford County was chartered with Optimist International in June this year and is looking to make a difference in the community. The Club is based in Woodstock and uses the Moose Family Lodge as their home base. Board Member, Daniel Craig says getting the Club to where they want it is in the early stages.
"We are new, we are a fairly small fish in the pond, and we want to get to the point where we are really helping to develop and bring good things to the youth of Oxford County."
Craig mentions that they are always looking for members, who can help with their goals. He says members can be of all ages, who have a passion for making their communities better, and who have an optimistic mind. He adds that their meetings are on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, and if you are interested in joining, you should attend a meeting.
You can find out more about the Club by visiting their Facebook page.
Craig says being a new group means figuring out ways to bring in money, and they will be hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser.
"It is going to be on October 18th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Moose Family Lodge on Sutherland Drive in Woodstock."
Tickets are available at the door, or you can reserve your spot by clicking here. The cost is $10 per adult, $5 per child, and children 5 and under are free.
