Advance Polling on now

Some advance polls which kicked off during the weekend are wrapping up Monday evening in Oxford, others continue through Friday.

WOODSTOCK -- Busy June 12th? Then advanced polls might be for you if you're looking to cast your vote in the June 12th provincial election.

Michael Szala, election clerk with the returning office in Oxford says some advanced polls in the Oxford riding are wrapping up later tonight, including polling stations at the Embro Community Centre, Norwich and Innerkip Community Centres and Tavistock Arena which will finish Monday, June 2nd at 8:00 PM.

Szala says advanced polls are also in Ingersoll this week at the Fusion Centre, and run daily from 10am until 8pm through this Friday. The Tillsonburg Community Centre also has advanced polling daily until 8pm through Thursday.

You can also vote at the returning office in Woodstock at 225 Bysham Park Drive until Friday at 8:00 PM as well. Szala says anyone on the voting list can vote at any advanced polling station in Oxford, even if it's not in your immediate area, saying there are a lot of advantages to getting that vote in early.

"People who would want to are people who would not be able to on polling day, including those who are working or volunteering at a polling station on polling day, and for people who just want to avoid the line-ups and the hassle on voting day, they're a bit quieter times to vote for the most part, so it's a good time to come in for that."

Those looking to take advantage of advanced polling should remember to bring a piece of identification showing proof of address to make sure they're on the voting list.
