A local turkey operation has pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty.
WOODSTOCK - Hybrid Turkeys has pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty under the SPCA Act.
The company which is located in Bright just outside of Woodstock was charged after the Ontario SPCA received a complaint abut the treatment of the animals on a farm operated by Hybrid Turkeys. A video showed failed attempts to euthanize an animal in a cruel and unusual way. Hybrid Turkeys was sentenced to pay to a $5,600 fine. Initially the SPCA laid 11 charges against the company. Earlier this week the company pleaded guilty to one count of failing to exercise reasonable care and supervision of the euthanasia of an animal at it's facility near Woodstock.
