Oxford OPP officers want to make sure everyone has a safe and fun time over the next few days.
OXFORD - St. Patrick's Day is only a few days away, so lots of local bars will be flooded with green this weekend.
Randi Crawford, the Community Safety and Media Relations Constable with the Oxford OPP, is reminding everyone to plan ahead.
"Whether you are going to be hosting a party or going out and about partying at different pub crawls or whatever, you want to make sure that you're planning ahead so have a safe way there and safe way back. If you are hosting, remember that you are responsible for the people that are at your home, so make sure they have sade rides home as well."
She's also reminding party hosts to be respectful of their neighbours.
"Not to crazy or parties and not too loud! Make sure your noise is under control because we don't want to have any increased noise complaint or neighbour disputes. Let's all be kind and considerate with each other and have a super fun, happy and health St. Patrick's Day!"
If you are planning on indulging in green beers or other alcohol this weekend, Crawford says you should pace yourself so you don't end up in the Emergency Room getting your stomach pumped. Plan how many drinks you'll be having ahead of time, pace yourself, drink water throughout the evening and make sure you eat a decent meal beforehand. If you're planning on partaking in edibles, Crawford says you should always make sure you know exactly what they contain beforehand.
Police will be out and about all weekend to make sure no one is driving while impaired. Crawford adds OPP officers will be out during all hours of the day, so make sure you are completely sober before driving home from somewhere whether it's the night of or the next morning.
St. Patrick's Day itself is on Tuesday, March 17th this year.
#OxfordOPP recognizes that there may be #StPatricksDay celebrations happening in @OxfordCounty this weekend, heading into early next week.
