Police say many newborn kits (Baby Minks) will not survive following a break and enter in Brant County.
Brant OPP are investigating after 500 minks and kits (baby mink) were set loose at a mink farm in Brant County.
Police were called to the farm on Maple Grove Road early Saturday morning. Someone broke into the barn by cutting holes in the wall which allowed the minks to escape. They were able to recover most of the minks however it is believed the babies will not survive because it is impossible to ensure they have been matched with the proper mother. The total number of deaths is not known at this time.
Police are asking anyone with information on this crime to contact police or Crime Stoppers. They believe someone may have seen a suspicious vehicle in the area during the middle of the night between Friday and Saturday.
"This is a very sad incident because of the actions of theses vandals many new born kits will not live."
