WOODSTOCK - The MLB home Run Derby is happening tonight but the real stars were on display in Woodstock on Saturday.
Big Brothers Big Sisters hosted their first home run Derby at Tip O'neill Park. Winning the Youth Division and walking home with a brand new Blue Jays Jersey was Tyler Chisholm with 21 points. Travis Milling won the senior event and hit a 365 foot home run to centre field in the final round to take the championship. Milling was in last place after the first round only getting 5 points before exploding in the second round with 45 points and the monster shot to centre field.
Group Program and Volunteer Coordinator at Big Brothers Big Sisters James Rijneveld says they hosted the derby to "raise some money and awareness for their programs and the need for volunteers, and I thought what better than a home run derby, get a bunch of guys and girls out to throw in the speed gun, hit some home runs, maybe have a hot dog at the concession, play catch with your son or daughter and learn a little bit about Big Brothers Big Sisters." Right now they have 40 youth in the community who are waiting to be paired up with a mentor.
