WOODSTOCK - Oxford County council has approved a motion to implement no parking on Oxford Road 12 or Mill Street in Woodstock to allow for bike lanes.
The lanes will be marked and signed and the removal of on street parking will allow for more space for bikes. New signage and paint markings are also going to be designed to improve roadway safety. The only person who spoke against the move was Councillor Sandra Talbot who noted a lot of the homes on Mill Street have small driveways.
"If they have anybody come to visit their property they would have no place to park they would have to find a side street, and the section from Kendall going down to Park Row area is quite a long stretch and is on a hill and some of those properties don't have the ability to go park in behind."
The proposed bike lanes are shown in the Woodstock Cycling Master Plan and were consulted on during the Class EA Study for Mill Street.
