Celebrate Canada Day in Burgessville this holiday weekend. People can enjoy vendor markets, food trucks and kids can go to the Kid Zone inflatable obstacle course.
BURGESSVILLE - The Canada Day Weekend will be put on in Burgessville on Monday.
There will be different events put on throughout the day, which is organized by the Canada Day Committee in Burgessville.
Chairman Curtis Cushing says there will be a range of activities.
"We're going to start the day off with a parade going south through the village. After that, we have the opening ceremonies at Ducky Dennis Park with live entertainment and local dignitaries speaking to kick off the day. Our vendor market and food trucks start at the corner of Nichol Lane and Highway 59 at 10:00am, you can get in there and see what's going on there before the parade starts. We're really excited about our KidZone, we've got an inflatable obstacle course. At 3:30pm, the local firefighters will be putting on a fire muster for the kids. Food trucks and concession will be at the park all day, and then in the evening at 8 o'clock the Burgessville Bulls will face off against the Straffordville Giants followed by fireworks."
Cushing says with all of the activities and events happening, there's something for everyone.
"We've got cultural presentations. A presentation called 'Our Canadian Heroes,' which honours exactly that our Canadian heroes at the Baptist Church. We've also got a Norwich Historical Display going on at the Public Library so really there's something going on around the village for everyone. A local artist show at Malcolm Holdings, as well as our vendor market on Nichol Lane, so there's definitely something for everyone."
Cushing adds parking will be available at a couple locations, including the Heritage Christian Church.
All the events will take place at Ducky Dennis Park. The fireworks are scheduled for 10:00pm.
