Dennis Vollmershausen takes home the Presidents Award Wednesday night

17th Annual Woodstock Chamber of Commerce Business Award Winners

WOODSTOCK - With the intension of watching friends potentially take home an award, Dennis Vollmershausen says he was shocked to discover he was the President's Award Winner at the 17th Annual Woodstock Chamber of Commerce Business Awards of Excellence.

The former CEO and President of both Lund Industries and Timberjack says it was a real special honour to be presented with the award.

"I think what I did over the years was always try to do the right thing and look after the people that worked for us and the people that we purchased our service parts and parts from and our customers. Beyond that, we believe very much in giving back to the community and we've tried to carry that on in our personal life and our family."

Paul McLaughlin of E&E McLaughlin Limited says his Energy Conservation and Innovation Award win was pretty exciting.

"I'm pretty proud of what we received here today and I'm very happy for this."

The audience at the awards dinner played a big part in the night as there was live voting from handheld devises at each table which worked out well for Cindy Laeson of the Little Booke Shoppe when she won the Retailer Award.

"It's great to be honoured for something you do every day. I don't think it's something out of the ordinary that I provide as a service, it's just what I think should be accepted from all retailers."

Dee White of Dee-Light's Bakery says she was just coming out for the fun of the night but ended up winning the Food Service Award.

"I didn't know what to expect so I'm grateful -- very grateful."

Steve Hunt of Hunt Homes says he felt very lucky when he was voted Trades Person of the Year.

"It's always great to be recognized for sure. We have worked very hard, we've been here a long time so it's great to get that recognition."

"Awesome." That was a word repeated several times by The Moving Hand business owners Audrey and Martin Barendrecht when they realized they had won the Commercial Business Award.

"Even the nomination was enough of a surprise," said Audrey. "It's great and I never expected it," said Martin. "I never expected it."

Joe and Maria Odumodo accepted the Professional Services Award on behalf of The Dispensary Pharmasave and wanted to thank their staff.

Owner of Midas Auto Service Curtis Langford said it was great to be acknowledged by his peers when he was voted to take home the Franchise Award.

"We work hard as a shop and to have the community award this -- it's very enjoyable," said Langford.

Taking home the Community Service Award was Tracey Kaiman of Eden Bella.

"It actually makes a difference that everyone notices the hours that the volunteers put in and that we have actually made a difference in our community." Kaiman added she was overwhelmed with pride over the award.

Nik Van Haeren of Uvalux Tanning and Support won the Entrepreneur Award saying he was amongst a great group of nominees.

"Really the hats off go to my team. My team is what makes me look good, what built our company and what makes us great."

And Randy Hosick of Personal Service Coffee said it felt incredible to take home the New Business Award.

"It's kind of dumbfounding actually because sometimes a retail business doesn't get the respect they may deserve."

While they were unable to attend, the Manufacturing Award went to Riley Manufacturing.
