The 25th annual Ingersoll Harvest Festival will be taking place this Saturday.
INGERSOLL - The town of Ingersoll is ready to celebrate their 25th annual Harvest Festival.
It will be taking place in Centennial Park and at the Ingersoll Cheese & Agricultural Museum this Saturday.
The big event will not include threshing demonstrations this year, but the equipment will still be on site. This way members of the public will be able to check out the display without being covered in the dust that comes off the grain
Curator Scott Gillies says they really wanted to keep this educational aspect of the festival.
"This way some younger people will be able to get a better understanding of what actually is involved in harvesting grain. Today you can look at a combine driving through the field in air-conditioned comfort while years ago it was all manual labour.
The celebration will also include live music, 30 vendors, amusement rides and more. Gillies says they're welcoming a group of Civil War reenactors as well.
"They're going to be giving presentations, demonstrations and talking to people about some of the local individuals from Oxford County who actually services, perhaps on both sides, of the American conflict back in the 1860s."
Everything will get underway at 10 a.m. with a pancake breakfast thanks to the Beachville Legion. The fun will wrap up 12 hours later, with a fireworks display in the evening.
