Janet Somers, Liz Wismer-Van Meer, and Allison Henkel were the keynote speakers for the evening.
WOODSTOCK - Lots of people packed South Gate Centre's Boughtflower Hall for the 10th annual International Women's Day, hosted by Oxford Women in Networking (OWIN).
Heart FM's Marcie Culbert served as the emcee. Woodstock Mayor Jerry Acchione delivered opening remarks and the land acknowledgement statement was delivered by City-County Councillor and Deputy Warden Bernia Martin. Vocal Rhythm Oxford sang the Canadian anthem and Patrick Murphy provided live music throughout the evening.
The sold out event highlighted three keynote speakers; Janet Somers, Liz Wismer-Van Meer, and Allison Henkel. Somers talked about her past as a hair stylist and encouraged everyone to make new connections with people. Wismer-Van Meer walked everyone through her life's journey and how she became the community leader she is today. Henkell focused a lot on the Give to Gain theme, reminding everyone that giving does not mean depleting and even the smallest amounts can make a difference.
The event also included a meal that was catered by Local Roots, several door prizes, and everyone walked away with a swag bag as well.
OWIN always hosts it's International Women's Day event during the first week of March, to coincide with the national International Women's Day movement that's always honoured on March 8th.
