The 9th Annual AppreSHEation awards will be given out as women celebrate a day in their honour.
WOODSTOCK - Oxford County is celebrating International Women's Day on Thursday with the AppreSHEation Awards.
Event organizer, Phyl McCrum, explains what the event is about.
"This is an event for and about women and this will be the 9th year that we've done it. We dreamed this, it has been a successful event with over 300 women every year."
McCrum adds why the event was created in the first place.
"Woman sadly have been overlooked throughout history. It's really important that we make the time to always include women and to celebrate women's contributions in society which are gigantic."
It is scheduled to take place at 11:00am to 1:30pm on Thursday at the Oxford Auditorium.
The event is free and will include a chilli lunch, an AppreSHEation awards ceremony and many local businesses all run by women.
The event committee is excited to be giving away swag bags to the first 100 women to attend.
