It promises to be a Dickens of a Christmas at Theatre Woodstock this holiday season.
WOODSTOCK - Theatre Woodstock is getting ready for opening night of A Dickens of a Christmas.
The fresh new family musical features a young Charles Dickens on Christmas Eve who is desperately trying to keep a roof over his head.
Director Donald Hasting says it is not the traditional Christmas Carol but you will recognize a lot of the characters.
"It takes place on Christmas Eve in Charles Dickens room, where he is about to be evicted for being behind on rent. In a fancible dream sequence, he falls asleep and he meets 14 of his characters that he will put into his novels, so it is not the traditional Christmas Carol."
Hasting says it promises to be a fun show.
"The audience is invited to sing along with all the carols they might know, they will notice their is some changes to some of them. It's a very uplifting show, it's a good family Christmas show and I think their is a great lesson to be learned from it."
Opening night is this Friday at 8:00 at Theatre Woodstock.
They have 6 shows in total, including two more this weekend on Saturday night and a Sunday matinee. Then next week they have three evening shows from Thursday to Saturday. Tickets are moving fast, however they do still have some available. You can get yours online here.
