The Culinary Tourism of Excellence Award got a little cheesy after naming the Oxford County Cheese Trail as a finalist.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Cheese Trail is a finalist for a very special provincial tourism award.
The trail is a contender for the Culinary Tourism of Excellence Award. Tourism Specialist Meredith Maywood tells Heart FM about the honour.
"The Culinary Tourism Excellence Award recognizes leaders in culinary tourism in Ontario and we are thrilled that the Cheese Trail and all its partners have been recognized for all the hard work it's done over the past couple of years."
The Cheese Trail officially opened up last fall. Since then thousands of people have checked it out and almost 30,000 brochures have been handed out.
Maywood says the award will be handed out in Canada's capital next month.
"It's actually going to be happening at the Ontario Tourism Summit in Ottawa on November 21st. Tourism Oxford will be there as well as Scott Gillies from the Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum as they are up for an Ontario Choice Award for their museum as well."
The Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum is a finalist for Best Small Museum/Art Gallery/Historic Site.
