Local resident Irene Ede was emotional upon winning the Chevy Spark Heart FM contest. She has decided to donate the car to an organization.
WOODSTOCK - After nearly two months of tuning and calling in the Code for the Car, the day finally came for one lucky qualifier to walk away with the brand new Chevy Spark courtesy of Anderson GM in Woodstock. 60 contestants qualified for the contest which was held at the Anderson GM dealership on Dundas street. As qualifiers arrived at the dealership many admired the red Spark, sitting in it and thinking of the possibility that it could soon become theirs. Many qualifiers anxiously awaited for how the contest would be decided. It came down to two colours; red and blue. Each of the 60 qualifiers selected an envelope- inside was a colour. Only 10 envelopes contained either a red or blue colour which entered them into the final round of the contest. Despite 50 qualifiers being cut after the first round, many stayed to find out who would win the car. The 10 finalists each selected one car key from a box, only one was the key to the Chevrolet Spark ignition. They would be taking home the car.
Each finalist had the opportunity to try their key in the ignition. After 5 of the ten finalists keys failed to start the car, it was local Woodstock resident Irene Ede's turn.
It was an emotional moment for Ede who had decided prior to winning the car that if she did win she would donate it to Autism Dog Services an organization that provides service dogs. Ede's 6 year old son Jaden has permanent brain damage and is currently on the waiting list for a service dog. Something she says will change his life. "I'm just blown away, I'm donating this car to Autism Dog Services in Lynden they're providing my son with a service dog and they get this in return." Irene hopes the car can help provide more children with service dogs.
