Some property owners in the Friendly City are receiving tax relief from 2014, 2015, and 2016.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council has instructed the Treasurer to cancel, reduce or refund some property taxes levied in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Deputy Treasurer Diane Campbell says this isn't anything new.
"This is a report we put on the agenda several times a year in order to adjust taxes in cases where there are changes to a property."
For example if a business was operating in a specific property but has changed locations, the tax classification for that building will be changed. Buildings impacted by a fire or another disaster will also be impacted because that would impact the value of the building itself.
Campbell this is an effort to ensure all property owners in the Friendly City are being taxed fairly.
