Ingersoll Candidate Profile - Mike Tucker

A candidate has come forward and put their name on the ballot for the Deputy Mayor seat in Ingersoll.

INGERSOLL - A professor of business and economics is now running for Deputy Mayor in Ingersoll.

Mike Tucker says he has thought about running in the past, and he is now willing to commit. His focus is on growing industry in the downtown core to provide meaningful and well-paying jobs in Ingersoll, and he provides what his experience could bring to council.

"I'm strong in policy; I'm strong in strategic management and thinking not just about making an immediate decision today but what is that decision going to mean in the mid-term to long-term? I don't want to slow the process down, but vet it out. What are the implications that are going to arise because of what we're doing?"    

He would also like to stay connected and involved with the community.  He has been teaching economic policy for a long time, and now he has the urge to put it to good use. Tucker says what he would like to see happen if he's elected this fall.

"I want to be part of continuing to create policies and plans to continue to attract industry to Ingersoll. I think we could do more to support the downtown core. The town is expanding, and I think we are going to have to have a conversation one day about some sort of moderate transit strategy."   

The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
