A local business owner has put his name forward to try to secure a seat on Woodstock City Council.

WOODSTOCK - A local business owner is in the running for Woodstock City Council.

Sandeep Sidhu has put his name forward to be on the ballot when residents go to the polls in October. He has lived in Woodstock for a decade, and the father of two feels it is the right time to submit his nomination paperwork.

"I believe that there should be diversity in council. I believe there should be younger people coming forward so that they always have fresh ideas.  I will do my level best to hear everyone's concerns."  

Sidhu feels he has something to offer. Sidhu talks about the issues people have brought to his attention.

"A lot of people have concerns such as property taxes they think are high; they are believing this homeless issue is a big concern as people feel unsafe going to the downtown area; we should have more family doctors; and I believe we should invest more in our local policing." 

Sidhu has been involved in the community and is excited to listen to the public and find solutions to concerns that arise. 

Residents will vote in the municipal election on Monday, October 26th.
