The staff at Woodingford Lodge are celebrating the healing power of music with the Music and Memories program
WOODSTOCK - Residents at Woodingford Lodge have found solace in personalized music.
The Music and Memories program was introduced in 2014, and during that time Behavioural Supports Ontario Resource RPN Mark Dager has seen a remarkable difference.
"It helps to connect to people with dementia in the absence of words. It also helps to improve and reduce episodes of boredom and depression and improve the resident's quality of life."
Dager and Randi Williams shared the program's results at the This Is Long Term Care: Quality, Innovation, and Research Forum in Toronto. During the forum they gave a sneak peek of a special video featuring first hand accounts of the program.
That video will now be screened at Woodingford Lodge along with the Sundance Film Festival's 2014 Audience Award winner Alive Inside.
The presentation will be on Tuesday, December 13th at 6:15 p.m. at Woodingford Lodge. It is free to attend, but donations for the Music and Memories program will be gratefully accepted.
