Coyote sightings have been popping up in the Friendly City recently.
WOODSTOCK - A number of people have spotted coyotes in Woodstock recently.
The Heart FM newsroom has been notified of two such cases on Parkinson Ave and near the Pittock Park entrance. Woodstock Police Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen tells Heart FM what you should do if you come across a coyote.
"My suggestion would be to not approach them, you can contact police and get us to come out and assess to see if the coyotes are a danger to the community or if there sick and then we will make decisions on what to do at that point. I would suggest because there have been sightings this time of year that people just be cautious. If you out walking at night and your walking trails, bring a noise maker and make lot's of noise if you come across a coyote to scare them away, take a flashlight with you and definitely be careful if you have pets."
Coyotes have been known to attack and can be especially dangerous for pets and small children.
