Tragedy hit the highways in South Western Ontario several times this long weekend.

Five people lost their lives on the highways this long weekend. Nothing in Oxford County, however there were several fatal collisions nearby. The closest case was in Brant County this morning when an 18 year old from Norfolk hit a tree on Highway 53 near Cathcart.
Two sisters were killed in a double fatal collision in Haldimand County over the weekend and an 18 year old from Chatham died in a single vehicle crash in Caring Cross.
Another tragic loss happened in Plympton-Wyoming when a pedestrian was killed by a CN train.
The fatalities happened despite repeated warnings from the OPP to slow down and drive with caution this long weekend. Historically the Victoria Day Long Weekend has been very tragic in Ontario as people tend to rush and speed at the first sign of warm weather.
