The Ontario government has reached a tentative labour deal with the province's English Catholic teachers.

This means students should be heading to school without any disruptions on September 8th. However before the deal can be ratified the London and District Catholic School Board still has to hammer out a deal with the local OECTA as part of the new labour agreement in Ontario. Director of Education with the London and District Catholic School Board Linda Staudt tells Heart FM now that this hurdle has been passed, she is confident they will be able to get a local deal done.
"I think prior to this whether you were a student, a parent or a teacher, there was a little bit of uncertainty as to what was going to happen at the start of the school year and I think after today's announcement everyone is breathing a collective sigh of relief."
Staudt says today's announcement is a huge step forward and thinks they should be able to have school start on September 8th without any further problems.
