An internationally known grief counselor is coming to Oxford County to help those struggling to cope with the death of a loved one.
WOODSTOCK - A pair of workshops are being held to help locals deal with grief.
Internationally known grief counselor, psychologist and author Dr. Alan Wolfelt will be speaking at the workshops sponsored by Oxford County Hospice Palliative Care Collaborative.
Coordinator of Hospice and Volunteers Nancy Clark says anyone who is struggling to cope with the death of a loved one is welcome to attend the free program.
"This would be a perfect event for them to help understand exactly what they are going through, to help feel that normalcy that they are not the only ones who are experiencing the feelings and emotions that come along with losing someone that they love and be able to gain some tools to move forward."
Clark says VON offers a great bereavement program and this is just another part of that.
"We see so many people who are really struggling and the supports that we offer are able to help them move forward so being able to be involved in this Alan Wolfelt workshop is just fantastic. We utilize his tools and we know that they are successful in helping people."
The public workshop is being held on Thursday, November 20 from 7-9pm at Maranatha Church. Anyone interested is asked to sign up by Wednesday by contacting Nancy Clark at 519-537-8515 ext. 3 nancy.clark@von.ca .
