Everyone has a chance to share their struggles and triumphs with healthcare in Oxford during a special panel today.
INGERSOLL - The Oxford Coalition for Social Justice and the Ontario Health Coalition want to treat the problem, not just the symptoms, when it comes to health care in Oxford County.
The two coalitions are teaming up for a public meeting at the Legion in Ingersoll, giving average Oxfordians a platform to voice their concerns.
Chair of the Oxford Coalition for Social Justice Bryan Smith says they want to collect as many stories as possible to give a fully cohesive picture of the state of health care in our area.
"We want people to tell us what they perceive to be the needs of health care in the province to help us understand the gaps so that we can then pull together a report that would go to the government that would outline to the current government what are the needs in our region so that they understand a cookie cutter approach isn't going to work."
People will have a chance to tell their stories to the panel in person, but Smith says they realize not everyone is comfortable doing so.
"Not everybody is prepared to speak in public about these matters because A) some people are shy about doing these things, and B) because some people, quite understandably, know it's personal. So they are more than welcome to email me (bryasmit@oxford.net) or drop into a meeting with a note about what they've encountered."
The meeting will run from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m today.
