Today is the day of caring in Zorra Township and people are performing good deeds in every corner of the Township.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Today is the official day of caring in Zorra Township.
The idea started from the Thamesford Public School who challenged other schools in the Township and it has taken off to include everyone in Zorra. Mayor Marcus Ryan says the Township features a hotbed of good deeds happening all across Zorra.
"I was coming to Thamesford Public School this morning to help with the snack program and on my way, I noticed kids walking down the street picking up garbage, holding the door at the gas station, there are kids going from AJ Baker to Harrington to tidy up there, they are also going to have Seniors come into the school today for some tea and some live music. Zorra Highland Park students are doing a Jump Rope for Heart this afternoon, there is stuff happening all across the Township, it really is quite amazing."
Ryan says the idea started with the Thamesford Public School.
"They challenged the other schools in our community to participate in a Thames District School Board Day of Caring, to do good deeds in our community. They meshed that up with Township's brand of "Doing Our Part" and asked the Township if they could use our brand to promote and leverage and encourage people to take part and council very enthusiastically endorsed that. Today is the Day of Caring and students at all three Public Schools are out and doing their part in the community."
Ryan says it's not just the schools taking part and everyone is encouraged to perform some good deeds today.
