In the midst of the hottest stretch of the year the OPP are once again reminding the public to never leave your pets inside a hot vehicle.
PARIS - In the midst of the hottest stretch of the year the OPP are once again reminding the public to never leave your pets inside a hot vehicle.
The most recent complaint came from the Brant OPP after responding to a call on Grand River Street North in Paris last Sunday. Police were called to a parking lot after getting contacted by a couple of concerned citizens who noticed the dog locked inside the vehicle panting. The dog was taken from the vehicle to the OPP station and held there until the owner was located.
This could have been deadly consequences for this pet. If it’s too hot for you to sit inside the vehicle then it’s too hot for your pet.
On a day where the temperature is 26 degrees Celsius, the temperature inside a vehicle parked in the shade reaches 32 degrees Celsius. If you leave your motor vehicle in the sun the temperature can reach 71 degrees Celsius. This is extremely hot and can have devastating effects on your pet.
Earlier this month Woodstock Police responded to 7 complaints about pets being left inside a hot vehicle and even one child over a 4 day period.
