Door to Door salesmen are getting a little too aggressive in the Friendly City.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are offering up a few tips on how to protect yourself from unwanted solicitation at the door.
Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen tells Heart FM they do recommend you to not conduct business at the door.
"I would suggest that if you are interested in getting some of their information and doing your own research asking some questions that would be the best, do not do anything at the door without doing your own research and if you ask these people to leave and they don't then by all means call police and we will come assist."
VanLeeuwen says they have been getting a lot of complaints about solicitors being pushy and rude. In some cases they have even pretended to work for legitimate businesses like Woodstock Hydro.
"People say they are working for Woodstock Hydro or they claim to be working for the City and they need to check your furnace or your water softener and it is important for homeowners to understand that is your property and if you don't want people on your property or don't want people in their home that it is ok to be assertive and tell them to get off the property."
VanLeeuwen says they do need to have a peddlers permit to be going door to door and Police arrested two men this weekend for going door to door without one. They were called to East Park Drive on Saturday. The males would not leave when the homeowner asked them to. The men were also making rude comments to the homeowner. Police located and charged a 24 year old London man and a 17 year old Cambridge man under the Woodstock municipal code for failing to produce a license while operating a temporary business.
