UPDATE: Premier Ford has confirmed that a snap election will be called next week.
He's planning to visit the lieutenant-governor on Tuesday, so the legislature can be dissolved and the writs can be issued on Wednesday next week.
It has also been confirmed that the election will be held on Thursday February 27th once this happens.

ONTARIO - It looks like Ontarians will be heading to the polls sooner than expected.
The next provincial election is scheduled for June 2026, but The Canadian Press is reporting that Premier Doug Ford will call a snap election next Wednesday. It's cites two senior government sources and also states that the election would be held on Thursday February 27th.
With US President Donald Trump recently returning to the White House and threatening hefty tariffs against Canadians, Premier Ford has said that he needs a new mandate in order to deal with the next four years. He expects the tariffs to hit Ontario very hard, especially in the auto sector, and we may need tens of billions of dollars just to keep the economy afloat.
With that being said, the opposition parties have stated that they would support stimulus spending, so an early election is not necessary
