One man is dead after a tragic bike crash on Highway 59 near the Village of Norwich.
NORWICH - One man is dead after a tragic bike crash on Highway 59 near the Village of Norwich.
OPP and EMS were called to the scene of the collision at 9:30 p.m. Police say the cyclist was driving on the wrong side of the road facing oncoming traffic when he hit car in the northbound lane. Constable Stacey Culbert says it appears the driver was not wearing an reflective gear. She tells Heart FM the incident serves as a fatal reminder about bicycle safety. "You know if you are travelling on a bicycle, and it is getting to that time of the evening when the sun goes down to always wear reflective gear, be safe be seen, make sure you have a proper working light on your vehicle and make sure you are travelling on the shoulder of the road, or as close to the shoulder as you can."
The adult male driver of the bike was pronounced deceased at the scene while the woman driving the vehicle was not injured. Police say the highway was shut down for a couple of hours last night while police investigated and an investigation is ongoing.
