Woodstock's Firestone Textiles plant is undertaking an acoustic audit to try and find the source of a reported noise that's angering neighbours. The Ministry of Environment has been contacted by neighbours of the plant, who have been reporting a "high pitched mechanical whining". Firestone has hired a Consultant and have been conducting a series of acoustic tests, which have yet to show the noise actually coming from the plant. General Manager Bob Galway says they're committed to getting to the root of the problem, "we've been in this neighbourhood for 75 years and we are committed to being a good neighbour. We are committed that we will find a solution to any of the noise factors that are affecting our neighbourhood that are coming out of our plant". 3-years-ago there were similar concerns. Firestone found the noise was coming from a water tank and corrected the problem. If anyone has concerns or complaints in regards to the noise coming from Firestone, they are asked to call 519-873-5000 during regular business hours; the after hours Action Centre is 1-800-268-6060.
