Norwich council is accepting commercial proposals for the former municipal building in Otterville.
OTTERVILLE - Norwich Township has made a decision on what to do with the former municipal building in Otterville.
They will be issuing a request for proposals to sell the building. CAO Kyle Kruger tells Heart FM part of the deal does require them to keep some of the land available for public parking.
"A couple of parameters: firstly that the proposals be for commercial uses in the former building and that the proposals provide for the retention for adequate parking to remain in municipal ownership."
It will keep about 25 to 30 parking spaces available which is the amount they have always had at the location. Council had been asked to consider using the entire lot for public parking. Kruger explains why they decided to go with the direction they did:
"We felt that a commercial use for the property would be the most beneficial to the core area of Otterville. It is hoped that more commercial development on the main street of Otterville will help trigger even further by the private sector in that downtown core and stimulate further growth for the village."
