The victim noticed a pop-up on their computer, that notified them of an alleged security breach.
PERTH EAST - Someone from Perth East Township is out $320,000 after falling victim to a scam.
According to the Perth OPP, the victim noticed a pop-up on their computer back in November which notified them of a security breach. The victim called the number provided and they were told that their finances had been compromised.
They were instructed to take $80,000 cash out of their bank account and purchase over $240,000 worth of gold bars online. A delivery company delivered the gold bars to the victim's house on five separate occasions over a two-week span, and unknown individuals would pick them up from there.
The persons of interest are described as Asian men with a short build, short black hair, and believed to be in their late 20s or early 30s. They were seen driving a white Lexus sedan, and small dark-coloured sedans with an unknown make and model.
