Woodstock's Boston Pizza will be hosting Team Shan Night Ladies Night this evening for the 6th year. The event will feature door prizes, along with giveaways and coupons, starting at 5pm.
WOODSTOCK - Team Shan Ladies Night is happening tonight at Boston Pizza.
The event has been going on for over six years, raising money for the organization.
President Lorna Larsen says it is open to everyone and people can expect a fun time.
"Boston Pizza has been proud to host Team Shan Night. They have a few ladies features to get the ladies all out, but it really is for everyone. So family, friends and co-workers can get together and have some fun and we do have door prizes and other sort of little specialty things during the evening. And 10% of the proceeds will go towards Team Shan, so that's a big shout out to Boston Pizza every year."
The organization was named after Lorna's daughter Shanna, who passed away from breast cancer. The team name was started by Shanna's friends who were looking to keep her spirit and raising awareness about breast cancer in young women.
Larsen says breast cancer effects women of all ages and that young women should get checked early.
"That's the challenge for young people because people aren't thinking about it so family doesn't thinking about it, they don't think about it themselves if they don't know they're at risk. And of course the health care professionals as well, 'oh you're too young, not to worry,' and I hear this time and time again across the country."
The event will feature door prizes, along with giveaways and coupons.
Team Shan Ladies Night goes from 5:00-9:00pm.
