TILLSONBURG - It was a packed house all weekend long for the 161st edition of the Tillsonburg Fair.
Admission to get in this year was only $5 dollars and people were treated to some first class entertainment with live music and a professional illusionist Lucas Wilson. President of the Fair Mike Dean tells Heart FM he hopes the fair created a nice trickle down effect for the local economy.
" The multitude of visitors coming in from out of town, they are coming into Tillsonburg, hopefully buying fuel here, filling up their gas tanks and we have vendors who are staying in local motels here in town, we bring value to everyone and it hopefully provides a nice little boost for local businesses in the summertime."
Dean says the fair is older than the town itself and is one of the longest standing traditions in the region.
"Our fair has been going longer than the town has been incorporated as a town, we started out as the Durham Agriculture Society, way back when when there was a town called Durham and a town called Tillsonburg and their was a number of little of communities and when they all merged, like I said this fair has been going longer than the town has been a town of Tillsonburg."
