Protester's rallied in front of local MPP Ernie Hardeman's office today about potential cuts coming to Health Care.
WOODSTOCK - About a dozen protesters rallied in front of local MPP Ernie Hardeman's Office today in Woodstock.
Vice President of Unifor Local 636 Melissa Holden says they are upset over cuts to Health Care and Bill 74 which calls for a two tier system.
"We are protesting the Government Bill's 74, that actually has passed second reading already without public consultation. There is not a lot of transparency, people don't realize that Bill 74 opens the door and allows the Government to privatize our health care and make it a two tier system."
Holden says When you look at it on a per capita basis, Ontario actually spends less on Health Care than any other Province in Canada. Chair of the Oxford Health Coalition Bryan Smith explains why they chose to hold this rally on April 1st.
"We thought you would have to be a fool to want to cut health care, so we thought that this would be a way to draw attention to the fact that this is not a prank, this is very serious and people's health is very serious and the Government's plan is going to cause a lot of damage to a lot of people."
Smith says they had plenty of support from people walking by this morning.
"We have had conversations with people who are asking well what do I do now, they are saying I can't possibly pay for my doctor's visit and my medication."
Smith says one of the ways that you can keep people working and keep people happy is by making sure they are healthy with a good public health care.
