Among the inductees at this year's Ontario Boxing Hall Of Fame Ceremony in Woodstock is Canadian champion Donovan "Razor" Ruddock, who fought Mike Tyson twice in 1991.
WOODSTOCK - The Ontario Boxing Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony will be returning to Woodstock.
The Oxford Auditorium will host the event and it's expected to have eight inductees this year.
President Dameon Okposio says it's the third time in the Friendly City.
"We have a small boxing trade show where people can kind of find out about the culture of boxing, especially here in Ontario. And then we have a small induction ceremony which includes just some fantastic food."
They first had the induction ceremony at Goff Hall in 2018.
It will also feature live amateur fights. Okposio says the amateur fights were a new addition to the event last year and a lot of people enjoyed seeing the variety of bouts.
He adds they've partnered with Boots On The Ground, an organization that provides counselling for first responders and some of them will be also be competing in the amateur fights. A portion of the proceeds will go to Boots On The Ground.
Among this year's inductees include Canadian champion Donovan "Razor" Ruddock, who fought Mike Tyson twice in 1991.
Okposio says the event is a part of Ontario and Canadian culture.
"They're learning about Ontario's history, why people in Ontario are so proud especially in boxing, why we take so much pride in being from Ontario. People are going to learn a little bit of history, they're going to learn about the industry of boxing and they're going to get entertained and fed really well."
Other inductees include former Canadian champion Bryon Mackie and multiple world champion Lisa Brown.
Tickets are on sale and they cost $50.00. You can either go to Facebook or contact Okposio at 647-224-2199. He says tickets are also available on Eventbrite.
It'll be on May 30th going from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.
