The Huron Park Huskies are one step closer to High School hockey supremacy.
WOODSTOCK - The Huron Park Boys Varsity Hockey Championship is representing Oxford County at the WOSSAA A/AA Boys Hockey Championships today.
The one day tournament is held in Woodstock at the Community Complex and Huron Park's first game is at 10 am this morning. Head Coach and Huron Park Department Head Brenda DeGier says the boys are starting to gel at the right time.
"They have taken on a true team mentality, no one player is going to shine and make a difference. They are very committed to the team and an exceptional group of young men to coach, I couldn't be prouder of them."
DeGier says they had to face a pesky IDCI team to advance.
"Well we had a very exciting series last week against IDCI, where we beat them in a 4-3 game in the third game of the series. Prior to that we beat CASS in the first round, Parkside and now here we are."
Luckily for the Huskies the Championships are being hosted by St. Mary's this year so they get to enjoy a home ice advantage. The one day tournament will see them take on teams from Huron-Perth. The winner of today's tournament will get to represent the region at OFSAA.
