Peak electricity rates are once again on the rise in Ontario.
Peak electricity rates are once again on the rise in Ontario.
Ontario Hydro customers will be getting a new time of use pricing from the Ontario Energy Board starting on May 1st.
Under the new guidelines it will cost 16.1 cents kWh for peak times between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m Monday to Friday.
This is a 2.1 cent increase and it means it will cost more than double the price to use electricity during the peak times compared to evenings and weekends.
Ontario already had the second highest electricity rates in the Country trailing only P.E.I.
According to the OEB the average family in Ontario will see a $5.71 increase on your monthly hydro bill.
