Influenza B outbreaks have occurred at the People Care in Tavistock, the Maples in Tavistock and Woodingford in Tillsonburg.
TAVISTOCK/TILLSONBURG - Three Long Term Care and Retirement Homes in Oxford County have been hit with an influenza B outbreak.
The outbreaks have occurred at the People Care in Tavistock, the Maples in Tavistock and Woodingford in Tillsonburg.
Program Supervisor in Health Protection Elaine Reddick says the they have not placed visitor restrictions at this time.
"They are not completely restricted, what we advise is that the homes let people know that they have an outbreak, so their is a sign placed at the door and visitors should only visit if they are not ill and do not want to become ill."
Reddick says if you do want to visit you need to follow certain guidelines.
"They should only visit their person because sometimes in a small community people will know quite a few people at the time so they will visit room to room, so we discourage that at this time, that they just visit their person, practice good hand hygiene, both on their way in and on their way out."
Reddick says people should stay home if they are sick.
