Inn Out of the Cold re-opens its doors for another season operating out of the Old St. Paul's Anglican Church from 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM nightly, serving anyone over 16 in need of food and shelter.
(WOODSTOCK) - Operation Sharing's Inn Out of the Cold re-opens its doors Tuesday evening at Old St. Paul's Anglican Church, serving anyone over the age of 16 in need of something to eat and a safe place to sleep.
Coordinator Paul Arsenault says guests should be cosier this year, after last year's brutal winter.
"We have a lot more blankets here. The church is actually putting in a new heating system this year for our guests; it's going to be even warmer in here, which we're very grateful for." However, they are always in need of more donations including more blankets, food, coffee, coffee filters, socks, and clothing for men and women.
The 7-days-a-week program averages 7 guests per night, but can accommodate 21.
Ultimately, Arsenault refers to his service as "bittersweet". "The fact that we have a shelter is great for those who are homeless, but it's a shame that we have to have a shelter. In a country as rich as ours, we shouldn't have to have homeless people."
If you would like to assist Inn Out of the Cold, you can make a donation directly at the church or by contacting Arsenault at 226-236-0698.
